Prepare for what you can control

Prepare your house and family.

Be right with Jesus!

Start learning below how to prepare your family to survive what is possibly coming.

We all hope and pray that preparing isn't necessary.  But it's much nicer to have food and not need it than to need food and not have it.  You may also be able to be a blessing to others.

Water

Where will you get water?

If public utilities are no longer functioning how will you get water?

In the short term you can find water in many places, toilet tank, hot water heater, even canned foods.

But these sources will quickly dry up and you, along with everyone else, will need a long term water supply.

You should also be familiar with ways to purify water, even if it looks okay to drink.  Think - hiking filter, gravity filter, filter with tshirt and boil.

Food

After water, food will be your next priority.  Hopefully you've been able to stash at least an emergency amount of food that you can rely on until a more sustainable solution is found.

The ideal solution would be a sustainable homestead, but this will be beyond tenable for most.  Learn to container garden on your patio or even sprouts on the windowsill.

Add to your stores everytime you go to the grocery store.  Even an extra can of salmon or beans will start to add up.  But make sure to buy what you use and cycle through your stores to keep them fresh.

Learn a SKIll

Having extra supplies is great in terms of barter, but once they're gone they are gone.  A desired skill will make you valuable to a community and can be traded repeatedly.  Think traditional skills like farming, baking and cooking over an open fire, food preservation, first aid, sewing, weaving and many others.  Yes security will definitely be a 'thing', but it's unlikely to be someone's sole role and just like in times past in case of emergency all able bodies will be expected to contribute to security.
